Letter From NAADHS President
My Fellow Colleagues,

On October 23, 2004, thirteen individuals assembled to ratify an organization that would capture the true spirit of “Team DHS” and the United States of America. As such, it was unanimously voted to create the:

National Association of African-Americans in the Department of Homeland Security
(NAADHS/pronounced nay-das)

NAADHS will continue in excellence and remain steadfast to the unwavering commitment to its members, DHS and the United States. By training, mentoring and counseling its members, NAADHS will enhance the DHS mission through effective recruitment and qualitative promotional advancement. NAADHS will also provide competent guidance to its members on how to efficiently address and resolve work related issues.

Members of the Executive Board have met with several DHS agency leaders as well as Ranking Members of Congress on the Homeland Security Committee. The feedback has been extremely positive and receptive. As pledged, the Executive Board affirms that NAADHS will diligently work with its members, DHS and the agencies within DHS to maintain a fair and equitable workplace.

NAADHS is currently accepting applications for membership. This is a historical opportunity for you to unite with positive people personifying professionalism. NAADHS is a non-profit 501c tax-exempt organization established by African-Americans, however, it is not exclusively for African-Americans. All DHS employees, retired DHS employees and retired employees from the legacy agencies that comprise DHS are eligible for membership (see MEMBERSHIP for application). If you do not meet the aforementioned criteria, you can join NAADHS as a Corporate or Associate member. To obtain more details on membership, please submit a request to NAADHS.

NAADHS has been carefully constructed for the sole purpose of empowering employees. Regardless of personal or professional status, the infrastructure of NAADHS will efficiently embrace each individual and effectively support the needs of every member.

I am pleased to announce that the state of NAADHS is well and promising. This organization will transcend time and serve as a beacon of inspiration for all. Prayerfully, every member of NAADHS will epitomize unity, integrity and perseverance.

On behalf of the Executive Board, we thank you for your interest and look forward to welcoming you to the NAADHS family!

Sincerely,
/s/
Gregory D. Thompson
President
